I can't believe that we are almost finished with the year 2006! Time has really flown by this year. I've got so much going on (as I'm sure we all do) with Christmas traditions and Christmas parties and, of course, the shopping! The hot item this year seems to be the new video game systems out there. Especially the new Nintendo Wii. If you aren't familiar with this new way to play video games, well, then come on over to our house! We've had so many friends and family members over to play our new Wii. I've got to say Wii just love it! hee hee!!!
If you aren't familiar with how the video game works, I'll give you a brief lesson. Basically, you move your controller to mimic the actions that you want your video game character to create. For example, when you are playing baseball, you'll hold your remote (or Wiimote) like a bat and swing as the ball approaches. When you are bowling you will hold your remote like the ball and swing forward hoping for a strike (or if you are me, a spare). The games are so much fun and you'd never believe that you would get so 'into' it. Watch videos of other's playing their Wii.
In other news, our salon is moving... four doors down. So alot of things will stay the same; like parking, our phone number and the route you take to come see me! What will change is the size of our space, meaning the salon is going to have a lot more room (thank goodness!) and we are offering additional services starting with laser hair removal. I look forward to seeing you in our new space January 2007.... that's only a couple of weeks away! Eek!
Well, I'd better get back to Christmas shopping online...only a few more days to order my items to guarantee shipment by the 25th!
Have a very Merry Christmas and and Wonderful New Year.

So I got a chance to work as an assistant at the Nashville Hairshow (aka Groupie Gathering). As you can see, I had a blast! This is my 4th time working the hairshow and my 2nd time in Nashville. Like I mentioned in my last post, I usually help with Goldwell's (the haircolor company that I am an educator for) presentation. This time I thought that I was going to be working with Pureology but instead I was assigned to work with Brad Ngata from KMS.
Brad was very nice. He put me in charge of most everything. From coloring the models hair with my own formulations to pre-setting all of the models hair for his presentation. I worked with him for 2 days before the actual show. We didn't have much time to talk but I did learn that he was a hairstylist from Austraila. Well, apparently that's not ALL he is!
On the day of the show, the atmosphere is hectic backstage. You have to make sure all the models are prepped, dressed and in line. I am backstage but we can see everything on these huge monitors, including the introductions of the Guest Artists. When it was time to introduce Brad they played a 10 minute video about him. I was amazed to find out that I had been working with Austraila's two time winner of the "Hairdresser of the Year" award! What an honor!

Well, things are going wonderfully at the salon. I feel like I am busier than ever. That's a good thing! I can always take new clients. I love the challenge of a new cut and color and I love meeting new people.
I am also staying busy with teaching. In a couple of weeks I head off to Nashville for the Salon Service Group Hair Show. It's going to be fun. This year my role is very different. In years past, I have been assistant to the main Goldwell Artist. This year I am responsible for coloring and designing the color choices for a shampoo and styling line called Pureology. You see, the show consists of artists from many different product lines. At the Nashville show we have Pureology, MOP, KMS and Goldwell. Out of all these lines, Goldwell is the only line that does color. The rest are styling lines. So when the other lines give a presentation on a new cut, style or updo they have to make sure the model they are using has beautiful haircolor. That's where I come in!
So it's a new position for me. I am nervous and excited. In the past I just did what the artist told me to do. NOW I get to make the decisions!
Things at home are going well. Always a project around the house. Currently we are redoing our office. It used to be our bedroom. So where is our bedroom? It's in our old 'animal room' (which used to be called a library before we got all of our pets!). And now where is the 'animal room'? Well, they no longer have a room. The only reason we bestowed a room to our animals is because the dogs kennels were SO big that there was no good place to put them in the house.... except in that room!
So we (and that really means I) had an excellent idea for our new office. We (this time that means Christopher) took down the sliding doors to the closet, put up shelves and left space at the bottom for the dogs to hang. That's right, they have a bed right under our shelves. Now the kennels are folded up and in the garage and we have so much more room in the house! The dogs are so cute under there and they really like their new beds!
So the room is still 'under construction'. I still have to put my finishing touches on it. It sure is hard to decorate when your working with the paint color we chose. BRIGHT GREEN.
I'm trying not to make it look like a little kids room. It will take some time!
So that's it for me! Thanks for reading. Have a wonderful day!
