Santa Year by Year
Every year since we've been married we have had our picture taken with Santa. We go to Mid Rivers Mall and see the exact same Santa. I love this little old man and was very happy to finally take Roman to get his picture taken with him this year.
I told the picture staff that we've been coming every year since we've been married and they told me that this was Santa's last year. He's getting older and just can't do it anymore. If you look really close, you can see the tears in my eyes. It was a bittersweet time. I'm happy to start a new tradition of Roman getting his picture taken with Santa but I'm sad that Christopher and I will no longer have 'our' Santa.

Happy Thanksgiving!
Where did the year go? I can't believe that Thanksgiving is this week!
Now the whirlwind of the Holidays can REALLY begin! I refuse to shop for Black Friday, though. It seems in the years past that the super-low doorbusters weren't worth the extra trouble. One year we got up at 2 am just for $3 memory cards for our digital camera. Now we have a ton of those memory cards scattered throughout the house. The problem is, they are nice to have but they are only 1GB. I am always switching them out and trying to keep track of the ones I've recently filled. If you know me and taking pictures, I NEED the extra memory space. It would have been much more prudent to just buy one 4GB memory card and be done with it!
I also remember going to Best Buy that same day and saw a CD I wanted on sale for $7. When I went looking for the beginning of the checkout line, people were constantly telling me to keep going. I saw a sea of arms gesturing back. As I continued to walk through the store, following this long winding line of people, I realized that the checkout line was literally the length of THE ENTIRE STORE! Not worth it for a $7 Justin Timberlake CD.
Black Friday or not, enjoy this week! I hope you get stuffed with a ton of comfort food and are surrounded by the ones you love!

Here are some recent photos of my son, Roman, on Halloween.
The thing is, he totally was meant to be Count Dracula. He's got the built in widow's peak and at the time he didn't have his FRONT top teeth but the side ones... so it looked like baby fangs!
Of course, this year was the time to show Roman off in his costume so we hit Main Street and said hello to everyone at the salon while they passed out candy for "Trick or Treat on Main Street".
We also went to visit the Wicked Witch of North County, who, 364 other days of the year is known as my mom. She has always dressed up as a witch for Halloween as long as I can remember!
Every year she says it's her last. I'm thinking this year she means it. Look at how scared Roman is of her!

I can't wait for the day this little man will let me cut and style his hair! Until then, I'll have to be content just shampooing it. :)
Hope your labor day weekend was nice. It's sad to see summer go but I welcome the change that the fall will bring. Speaking of change, things are different for me at the salon. I have moved my station! You may not think this is a big deal but for those of you who work at a desk, cubicle or office imagine if you moved locations. The change of environment can be very scary. Fortunately, it's been a very good thing. I love my new spot and felt at home there the moment I moved! I'm in front of a window now so there is a nice view of the trees in the reflection of my mirror, I am tucked away so I am not in the middle of salon traffic but at the same time I am not TOO tucked away so I feel like I am still part of the salon's atmosphere. I hope you'll like my new spot as much as I do.
What else is new? Well, I am looking into investing in a great digital SLR camera. I had it narrowed down to a Canon XSi or a Nikon D80 but now I just found out Nikon is discontinuing the D80 so I am back to square one. It's been so hard to decide since all I really know is that I want to take a great picture! All the other details are somewhat confusing to me but I'm willing to learn all about ISO and aperture. If you have any opinion or advice email me. I really appreciate any feedback or input.
Of course I want the camera to take photos of my family but I want to also have great before and after hair shots for my website. If interested, let me know. We can have some fun with a big or small change to your cut and/or color!

It's been forever since I've posted pictures of Roman! I was making you have to come into the salon to actually see pictures of him. :) These are his newest professional pics from LeLe Photography! They do an awesome job. So far they've taken pictures of my overdue preggo belly, newborn pictures of Roman and his 3 month pictures. I look forward to them taking many more! You can contact them at lelephotography@yahoo.com
I had such a hard time picking my favorites to share, sorry there are so many!

I am so proud of my friend and client Alex. He was featured in this month's issue of Sauce Magazine! He loves to make a great cup of coffee. (Check out his hair... I did that cut!)
Because I love what I do and consider myself passionate about being a hairstylist, I totally admire and am inspired by someone who is passionate about their craft!
I would say Alex is an expert at coffee. I'm sure he'd quickly disagree. He is very knowlegeable and very talented but also very humble. He would probably say there is so much more that he has to learn and that is what makes him so cool. One thing we would agree upon is that he is passionate.

One of my good friends Brandy got married this weekend and it was fabulous! It was the nicest, most relaxed wedding I've ever been to! They were married at the groom's parents house at 10am on Saturday with a brunch reception. The ceremony was perfect, the weather was perfect and the bride's hair (which I did, of course) turned out great! Congratulations Todd and Brandy!!!

This summer is trying it's best to fly by but I'm not gonna let it! I can't believe we are approaching the Fourth of July! I hope you're also taking your time to enjoy your summer!

Haven't posted in a while! Mainly because I didn't want anyone to miss pictures and video of my baby boy!!! (You can still view the post below.) But now onto business...
I've been back at the salon for almost a month now and it's been great to see everyone. Thanks so much for being loyal! Some of you walked in with hair longer than I've ever seen you comfortably wear. :)
In June, I will be working on Wednesdays starting at 1pm and Thursdays starting at 3pm. I will also be available on Saturday, June 14th.
Because everyone is trying to get their appoinment made at once, we are going through a bottle neck effect but it should all work out soon. I appreciate those who have made their appoinments in advance!
As always, if you have any questions, feel free to email me.
See you soon!

I've wanted to share this with you for so long but was waiting to be able to post everything at once! Thanks to Kelly Manno Photography for giving me permission to post her work online. Below you will find our "Birth Story" which I've uploaded on YouTube. Also, I've posted Roman's Birth Announcement. You can click on each photograph of the birth announcement to view them more closely. When you watch the Birth Story, be sure to listen to the music too! And grab your tissues!!!

I am so excited to come back and share my photos of baby Roman with you all. Kelly Manno shot some awesome photographs and put together a great slideshow. I'm waiting for the birth announcement she put together to come in the mail. Once it does I will post it along with Roman's birth story.

Ok, I swear I'm not obsessed with her but...Katie Holmes cut her hair again. She ditched the bob and now she’s sporting a fitted bi-level. Other celebs, like Rihanna, keep clipping away at their ‘dos, too. So keep your eyes out for this close-cropped look because everyone will want it once temperatures soar. The best thing about this cut is that I can detail and personalize it for you by studying the face and then using a razor to open up space in discreet areas, like around the eyes or at the temple to spotlight gorgeous cheekbones.
SALON UPDATE: Back to work May 7th! As my friend Kelly says, I am coming back to work in 'baby steps'....this means my hours are condensed until I can figure this Mommy thing out. So make your appointments ASAP so that you can get your preferred time/date. I prefer that you call the salon to set up your appointments first. However, if you call and things don't work out, don't hesitate to email me to see if I can fit you in! I check my email regularly and will try my best to accomodate!

11 Days Overdue and Counting!
Salon Update:
Even though the baby has not arrived I am on maternity leave. I will return to the salon in MAY. Since my hours will be condensed the first month or so, I recommend making your appointments now so that you can guarantee a slot. While I am away from the salon you can contact me through email. I look forward to hearing from you!
I hope to update this blog SOON saying that the baby is born!
Looking to lighten up? Don't think that requires an all over color! I love to take someone to a lighter shade without having harsh stripes of blonde or makeing sure it looks like they grow platinum hair right from their scalp...(not everyone can pull off Gwen Stefani!)

Salon Update: I am not officially on maternity leave until the baby is born. So if you'd like to see if a last minute appointment is possible, shoot me an email and I will call you back to set something up. Of course there are no guarantees but it doesn't hurt to try!
5 DAYS OVERDUE!
So I haven't had the baby yet. The due date has come and gone and he's still not here. So what have I been doing with my time? Well, I'm not just going to sit on the couch and stare at my belly ...unless I've got a camera pointing at me and it makes for a good picture. That's right, I had a few friends come over and take pictures of my 40+ weeks belly. Alicea and Ashley did an excellent job and they are looking for more prego bellies to shoot. If anyone is interested you can contact them HERE or call 314.620.6084
It was a lot of fun and it was a good distraction since there's no telling when this little guy is going to come!
This is one of my favorites! They only gave me a couple right now but I will post more as they arrive.

Blessed
I have such awesome clients. I cannot tell you how many of them showered me with baby gifts. And I really don’t have any weirdo clients that have said strange things to me about my belly or given me the horrors of labor and delivery.
All of them have taken this awesome time in my life to show how much they appreciate me. I hope they know how much I appreciate them.
I absolutely love what I do. I’ve made every effort to show that throughout my pregnancy. I really don’t want people to think I am going to fall off the face of the earth once I am ’offically’ a mom. I know that there’s no job in the world that can match nurturing a life and raising a child but I am grateful to have a career that allows me to feel fulfilled. Not because it is something that I fell into, had forced upon me, or tried to make it work...but because I am truly passionate about making others look good and feel good through my work as a hairstylist.

Now that it's nearing 75 degrees outside, it's time to start breaking out the flip flops, changing out the winter wardrobe and thinking about spring makeovers. The trend tip for the season? Bobs and Boxy Bangs are IN.
Katie Holmes’ haircut is going strong and will continue to be in fashion this spring. It’s a nearly one-length bob that swings softly around the face and shows off the neck.
For those of you who aren’t ready to be snipped, very long hair is also going to be in, with either soft long layers around the face, or with a heavy, square bang.
Comment on this topic!
Salon Update: As of this very moment (1:14 pm on Wednesday March 12th), I am not in labor. This means I am still working. :) I plan on working until he's born. If you need to contact me you can email me here.
If I don't get a chance to blog on this topic, let me just say I am so very grateful for my AWESOME clients! I love what I do and it has everything to do with the people I work with! Thank you SO MUCH!!!
